Sharing is caring!

Here is the second part of my review of the crochet kit, Star Wars Even More by Lucy Ravenscar.

You can find part 1 of my review here. In that post, I reviewed the patterns for Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, and Kylo Ren. In this post, I am reviewing the patterns for characters from the original trilogy. These include  Jawa, Admiral Ackbar, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Lando Calrissian, Nien Numb, Greedo and the Cantina Band.

Jawa and Admiral Ackbar

I had actually already made these characters as they were previously released individually in the designer’s Etsy shop. The Jawa is so cute – I added an extra row to the hood so that it was bigger. Admiral Ackbar turned out perfectly – I love the detail in that character.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

This character was also previously released, but the designer has made some improvements to the pattern. Notable is the addition of an actual beard – an extra piece that is crocheted on. Previously, part of the face was simply grey due to a colour change. The addition of the beard greatly improves the design.

Lando Calrissian

I had read on the designer’s blog that she was considering making Lando and I am so glad that she did. This is a great design – right down to his cape. I am so pleased with how he turned out.

Nien Numb

I must admit that I don’t recall who this character was, but my kids promptly reminded me. Despite not remembering him, my kids say he looks good – just like the movie.

Greedo

Greedo was a short-lived character, but a memorable one in his scene with Han Solo. Although he had limited screen time, I’m glad the designer picked him as this was quite an interesting character to make as he has a number of interesting details in his design.

Cantina Band

This was one of my favourite parts of the book. What amazed me the most was the fact that the instruments had names! I didn’t know they had actual names, let alone what they were. I wanted to do all 4 for the band and so I found the easiest way to do this was assembly-line style:  I did all 4 bodies in a row, then I made 8 arms (2 for each) and then I made the instruments. Then I did all the sewing at once. I find that repetitive crocheting makes it easier and quicker when making multiples of the same item.

As usual, Lucy Ravenscar has done a wonderful job in her designs and I hope she continues to do more.
