Max from the Wild Things | Amigurumi Pattern Review

Sharing is caring!

Welcome to Day 5 of my 12 Days of Christmas series. I’ve been sharing all of my crochet projects that I’ve been doing lately. Today is an amigurumi of Max from the Wild Things.

A co-worker of mine returned to work in December, after having taken maternity leave. She is a great help in my classroom and is really a blessing to the students she works with as she is so patient and understanding. She had had a beautiful little baby boy.

I thought a welcome back gift would be nice. I had already made a baby blanket for her son and wanted something different. As her son’s name is Max, I thought it would be appropriate to make him a Max amigurumi from the storybook, Where the Wild Things Are.

Where the Wild Things Are is a lovely children’s story about a young boy named Max who is sent to his room and has a wonderful dream about being with a bunch of monsters who make him their king.

Pattern Source and Review for Max from the Wild Things

A quick search on the web came up with one of my favourite amigurumi designers, Ahooka who has a pattern. I have used this designer’s patterns before, including the patterns for BB-8 and Maz Kanata from Star Wars. You can see my Star Wars amigurumi in my blog post here. The patterns are easy to follow and well done. I really like how she designs her characters.

The Max pattern is a free pattern available here. As usual, this pattern did not disappoint and Max turned out great. He was quite easy to make. The only change I made was the addition of buttons to the front of his onesie.

I must say that the BEST part about this pattern is that the hood comes off! That’s right – it comes off!

My co-worker was quite thrilled to receive Max. I’m so happy to have her back at work.
