I am always on the lookout for cute, easy sewing patterns that also make great little gifts. This sewing pattern checks all the boxes. The Bunny Pattern by Twig and Tale is a FREE pattern.

I first encountered Twig and Tale when I was asked to make some dragonfly wings. Be sure to read my sewing pattern review of the dragonfly wings here. I discovered this pattern company and love the organic nature of it.

There are 2 sizes of bunnies included in this free pattern – the mommy and the baby.

Essentially it is one pattern piece. You cut 2 mirrored images out of fabric, sew it together, stuff it and hand sew the opening closed. It’s that easy.

You can make the Bunny Pattern by Twig and Tale in a variety of fabrics. This is a great scrap-busting project as it does not use a lot of fabric. Use whatever you have on hand. This is also a great upcycle sewing project.

While woven fabrics work best, a knit fabric can also work if you interface it in order to stabilize it.

These were made from an upcycled, knitted crib sheet.

There is an option to decorate the bunny with embroidery, but I think they look rather cute just the way they are. Tie a simple ribbon around the neck and I think they are perfect.

Sewing Pattern Review & Tips

This is a relatively easy sewing pattern. I say relatively because of all the curved lines. Sometimes sewing something other than a straight line can be a bit challenging. This little bunny has a lot of curved lines.

The pattern piece shows the sewing lines. It is basically the outline of the bunny. Be sure to follow them.

Sometimes working on a small project, like the baby bunny can be a bit fiddly – especially when turning right side out and stuffing. If in doubt, start with the mommy bunny as it is a more manageable size.

I tend to overstuff my projects and always end up removing some. Be sure to check it as you go. A takeout chopstick is great for manoeuvering the stuffing into the ears and the tail.

Is this the sweetest little bunny?
