GreenStyle Creations Staple Tank | Sewing Pattern Review
I’ve been inspired lately to do more sewing and while sewing clothing opens up a whole world of possibilities, I’m interested in sewing basics. I thought I would start with something simple, like the GreenStyleCreations staple tank.
The Staple Tank is simply that – a wardrobe staple. Depending on the fabric you use, the staple tank can be used for workouts, casual or sleepwear. It features a scoop neck and is not a racerback so it can be worn with a regular bra. It provides the option to have neck and armhole bindings.
This is one of the first projects I made using my serger. When I acquired my Babylock Acclaim and Coverstitch machines, I wanted to test them out by using a simple pattern. The Greenstyle Staple Tank was just that – an easy, basic pattern that would give me a test run on my new machines.
About GreenStyleCreations and Their Patterns
GreenStyleCreations is an online site that sells a variety of sewing patterns. I was drawn to the site as a number of their patterns actually mimic
The website features a number of styles and patterns that when purchased, you can download so you have the pattern immediately. The pattern is formatted to be printed on regular 8.5×11 paper making it easy for anyone to print. Be sure to open your pattern in Adobe Acrobat – this recommendation is not stated in the pattern, but I did find the suggestion buried in their website. I would personally recommend that they state it in the pattern instructions.
What’s great about opening your purchased pattern in Adobe Acrobat is that you can isolate which size you want in the layers panel. This is explained in the instructions – but as mentioned, it doesn’t say what software is used. Don’t worry – Adobe Acrobat is free. So I could isolate the size I wanted and it printed only that. No more multiple lines and you have to be careful how you cut so as to make sure you get the correct size. This is a great feature.
Once printed, you need to tape all the pages together to make the patterns. It is suggested that you transfer and trace onto other paper, but I was okay with just using the regular printer paper for my pattern.

Staple Tank Sewing Pattern Review
Fabric suggestions include knit fabrics. You only need 1 yard of fabric to make this tank top. I love quick and easy projects like this. Since I already have lots of
I also like the idea that it had a regular back (as opposed to a racerback), which did not require me to wear a sports bra.
To sew this tank, it could not be simpler. You just need to sew the shoulder seams and the side seams. My Babylock Acclaim makes this super easy as it sews, serges and trims all at once. This project could not come together any easier.
I chose to use bindings for my neck hole and armhole openings. Again, I used my serger to attach and then I used my coverstitch machine to finish.
I really love this pattern. I find the scoop neck so flattering. In fact, I often use this scoop neck shape to modify other patterns as I really like it. I simply use the pattern piece to cut out the neck hole on various other tops and dresses.
