I love making bath bombs. It is a great craft that is perfect for gift giving. You can read all about how to make bath bombs in my blog post here.

I like to use my doTerra essential oils to scent the bath bombs. My favourites are those made with lavender or wild orange essential oils.

Recently, a friend was putting on a Minecraft Party for her two sons. She wanted Minecraft bath bombs to be used as party favours. These were so fun to make. Basically, I just made green bath bombs and then painted the Minecraft face on them.

This was really quite easy to do and they turned out great.

Supplies Needed

  • bath bombs – don’t forget to check out my post here on how to make your own bath bombs.
  • mica powder – this is natural colour that is cosmetic grade.
  • rubbing alcohol – I use 99%
  • paint brush – I just used a small, kid’s paint brush.

Tips on How to Paint Bath Bombs

After making your bath bombs, let them sit and dry out for a good 24 or more hours. This will make it easier to handle.

I laid a piece of wax paper down as there will be crumbs from the bath bombs when you handle them. This just makes cleaning up a bit easier.

In a small dish, mix equal parts of rubbing alcohol and mica powder. You don’t want it too thin (that means there’s too much of the rubbing alcohol) and you don’t want it thick either Give it a good stir to mix thoroughly. Remember, you don’t want to use water, because that’ll set the bath bomb off!

I held the bath bomb in a gloved hand so as to limit the handling of the bath bomb.

As you paint, you don’t want to apply too much pressure as the surface of the bath bomb can be scraped easily. That said, I still had crumbs from the bath bomb.

I like to give the mica mixture a good stir often as I found it easy to separate as it sat. Be sure to wipe the brush on the side of your dish to not only remove the excess rubbing alcohol (which just leads to bleeding) but also to remove any bath bomb crumbs that are stuck to the brush.

Lucky for me, the Minecraft design was an easy design to paint as it just involved squares. A good, square paintbrush made it really easy to do.

Once painted, let the bath bombs sit for another good hour to dry. Once dry, you are ready to package them up.

I love how these turned out. What a cute idea to give away as party favours. These would make great stocking stuffers as well, don’t you think?
