I am just not a hoodie person. I’m just not athletic and sporty enough to pull it off. That said, I have sewn hoodies in an effort to try and be sporty and athletic. I even went all out with drawstrings, aglets, and thumbhole cuffs! I have blog posts on all of these. But it’s just not me.

M4M Rory Hoodie Raglan
By now, you know my love for Made for Mermaids Patterns. I have been fortunate enough to be able to test some sewing patterns for them. I will admit that when I first saw the tester call for the Rory, it was an immediate pass for me. I am not a hoodie person. I do not want to make a hoodie. I don’t even wear the ones I made.
Then I saw all the testers’ results and this was just not any hoodie. This was actually a pretty hoodie. It draped nicely and was shaped like a blouse. It wasn’t boxy and baggy. So I ended up purchasing the pattern.
There are several options for this raglan top. Some of the options included different lengths (crop, straight and curved). It can be hemmed or banded. The hood itself is optional and comes as a v-neck or a crossover. There are various sleeve lengths, as well as an optional kangaroo pocket.
For me, the perfect look was the deep v with the hood. I find it so flattering. I literally sewed up 3 in a row.
Fabric Options for the M4M Rory
This sewing pattern is drafted for knit fabrics. As this is a hoodie, most athletic-type fabrics work for this sewing pattern.

Sewing Pattern Review
This pattern is quite easy to put together. The options I chose only had 5 pattern pieces – front, back, sleeve, hood and sleeve cuffs.
The sewing pattern instructions are easy to follow and the hoodie comes together really easily and quickly. I love patterns that I can sew up in a couple of hours. I love that instant gratification.
Despite it being a hoodie, I feel quite put together when I am wearing it. It’s sleek and works with jeans or leggings.
Check out this one I made in sweater knit fabric. Can you tell I just love this pattern?
