We went through a bit of a heatwave here on the west coast. Rarely do we hit temperatures making us hotter than Los Angeles and even Miami! Typically we are nice and mild. Anything over 25 C/77 F is considered hot. So when we had a heatwave that went up to 38 C/100 F, it was pretty unbearable.
Given our temperate climate, we don’t have an air conditioning unit in our home. We only have fans. So I needed something that could make this heatwave more bearable. So here is a cooling spray made with essential oils.
I’ve been trying to keep things natural and reduce the number of toxins in our home. One great way to do this is the use of essential oils.
This cooling spray was just what I needed to keep cool in temperatures. Simply mist yourself for a cooling sensation. Bonus – this works for hot flashes too!
Supplies Needed
With just a few simple items, you can make this cooling spray.
- fine mist spray bottle
- peppermint essential oil
- lavender essential oil
- witch hazel (a natural astringent)
- distilled water
How to Make a Cooling Spray with Essential Oils
Simply add everything to your fine mist bottle and shake.
That’s it! I made this one morning as by 9 am it was already 24 C/75 F and I knew that I had to brace myself for a hot day.
I added a cute vinyl label using my Cricut. For information on adhesive vinyl, check out my blog post here.
