How to Make a Felt Flower Headband

I just finished making a cute crochet tutu dress for a little girl turning one. It just needed a finishing touch – a felt flower headband.

Previously, you had seen a super easy tutorial on making a foldover elastic headband. I also made some rolled felt flowers. So why not combine the two together to make a felt flower headband?

This cute little accessory is very easy and doesn’t require many supplies. You can make a few of these up in a variety of colours.

Supplies Needed

• foldover elastic
• sewing machine or needle and thread to sew by hand
• felt
• flower template

Steps to Make a Felt Flower Headband

• Refer to my blog post on how to make a fold over elastic headband to cut your length of foldover elastic.
• Overlap the ends of the foldover elastic by 1 inch and sew together – this creates a flat seam. You can either use your sewing machine (I used a zig-zag stitch) or you can sew by hand.
• Refer to my blog post on how to make rolled felt flowers. There you will find the flower template and instructions on how to use your Cricut Maker to cut them out. You can make as many as you’d like for your headband. For this small headband, my flower templates were 3 inches tall. This resulted in a cute 1.5-inch flower
• Attach the flowers to the foldover elastic headband, covering up the seam. I recommend hand sewing them as I personally don’t trust that the glue will hold.

Since the crochet tutu dress I made was pink and yellow, I wanted both pink and yellow roses on the headband. I love how sweet it looks and how it turned out.

This was an easy felt flower headband to make. I think it adds a nice finishing touch to the outfit, don’t you think?
