Crochet Nativity Scene | 2 Pattern Sources
Happy Holidays everyone! Welcome to Day 1 of my 12 Days of Christmas. For the first day, I thought I would share with you this crochet nativity scene.
I thought I would share my 12 Days of Christmas with you here – featuring 12 projects that I worked on before Christmas that were either gifts or orders. There were a variety of items – bought free and paid patterns, as well as a couple of my own.
I’ve always loved Nativity Scenes. The true meaning of Christmas has always been instilled in me since I was a child and I endeavour to continue to do so for my own children. I prefer simple Nativity Scenes – meaning just Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus.

Crochet Nativity – Pattern 1
Last year I made this set from the Cookie Snob. You can find the pattern here. This is a cute little set that was easy to work up.
Crochet Nativity – Pattern 2
This year, I thought I would choose a different pattern. I’ve been making a lot of patterns from 5 Little Monsters lately – the Christmas stocking ornament (read about that here) and the Death Star Christmas ornament (a family favourite now – read about that here). The same blog has a Nativity Scene so I thought I would try it. You can find the blog post here.
This Nativity Scene has quite a different look to it. The characters have no faces and they are quite big in size, in comparison to the Cookie Snob one.
Both patterns are weighted down with pellets. This allows the characters to stand upright. I’ve read about dried beans sprouting and going mouldy so I opted for actual pellets which I found a bag of at Michaels. In order for the pellets to not leak
through the crochet, you can put them in little organza gift bags (like the ones at weddings – I found them at the dollar store) or in pantyhose (I found some anklets at Daiso that did the trick). You just need enough for the bottom part so that the figures can stand.
I’m happy with how this set turned out. As mentioned it is a different look – perhaps not as cutesy as the Cookie Snob, but still nice. I’m not sure which set I prefer.
Please come back over the next few days while I share my other projects in my 12 Days of Christmas.
