C2C Finishing – Weaving Ends & the Border | Part 2

Sharing is caring!

Now that I conquered the C2C Westie graph, it was time to put on the finishing touches. Here is C2C finishing – weaving ends and the border.

C2C Finishing – Weaving in the Ends

First I had to deal with all those ends! Even though this C2C graph only used 4 colours, there were so many ends! This was a big job. I made a video to show the different ways of weaving in ends.

In hindsight, I could have joined my yarn better. It wasn’t until after this project that I discovered the ultimate yarn join. This yarn join is strong and you can cut off the tails – without compromising the integrity of the knot. I should have used this when replenishing my bobbins – I would have had way fewer ends to weave in. But lesson learned, now I know. I use this yarn join all the time now.  This join works for when joining the same colour to itself – so when you need to refill your bobbin. This does not work (to the best of my knowledge) for colour changes. When changing colours, it is best to try and weave them in as you go.

Here’s a video on how to do the ultimate yarn join. Please note that I have been told that I mispronounce the word “skein”. That was just the way I was brought up so just assumed that that was the way it was pronounced. My apologies to you who know the proper way of pronouncing the word “skein”.

C2C Finishing – the Border

After the C2C graph was done, I wanted to do a border. Borders serve a purpose – it frames your work nicely and stabilizes the item. It was quite a big job to do the graph, so I wanted something simple. I found online, the idea of a foundation row for the border. I really like this idea as it made a nice base for my simple border. Here’s a video on the foundation row.

Now all I did was a simple sc border. It was a lot of work doing the C2C graph and I wanted something that was simple and didn’t take away from the graph itself.

I think it turned out great. I’m so happy with this graph. If you are interested in doing a graph, be sure to check out the Crochet Couch at C2CGraphs.com  or on Ravelry, found here.
