Crochet C2C Basics | Video Tutorials

Sharing is caring!

C2C or corner to corner crochet is certainly one trend that I have stuck with. Other trends come and go but I love the C2C technique. Here are some crochet C2C basics.

What is Crochet C2C?

C2C crochet is a crochet technique that works on the diagonal. You can use this technique to make a plain or solid coloured item. This method also is a great way to make diagonal stripes.

I love that I can turn a picture graph into a pillow or an afghan. If you’ve been thinking about trying C2C – this blog post is for you! I’ll talk about the basics and I’ve included a couple of video tutorials to help you out.

As many of you know, my first C2C graph was back doing the Westie from the Crochet Couch. You can read about that post here.

I’ve also used the C2C method to crochet a buffalo plaid pattern – you can read about that one here. I love plaids. Believe it or not, I turned this into a sweater for our pup.

You can also use C2C technique to crochet a gingham pattern. This is a baby blanket that I made for someone.

Crochet C2C Basics

In the meantime, due to a number of requests, I’ve made two C2C Basics Tutorial videos.  The first video shows you how to get started, how to increase and how to decrease. I know there are a lot of other videos out there – I’m hoping that my background as an educator helps me to explain things easily. So far, the feedback has been good.

The video includes the basic technique.

I also show you how to stop increasing on one side so that you make a corner.

I’ll show you how to stop increasing on the opposite side that you can finish off.

C2C Basics Part 2 – Adding a New Colour

In Part 2 of my C2C Basics series, I show you how to add a new colour – this is useful if you are doing stripes of alternating yarns or doing a picture graph.

If you haven’t tried C2C yet, I strongly urge you to do so. Start with a simple striped afghan – that’s what I did. Then, if you are cautious like me, do a C2C graph that has a word chart like those from the Crochet Couch. I highly recommend those graphs – there are many to choose from.

C2C is not just for blankets. You could also use it to make smaller items like pillows.
