A few weeks ago I shared with you, an easy sew cord organizer. With all of our technology devices nowadays, I find myself inundated with cords: power cords, charging cords, cables…it just goes on and on. Instead of leaving them in a jumbled mess, why not organize them into little bundles
This is a great little project to use up scrap pieces of fabric. Be sure to check out my blog post here.
Since then, I have come up with another version that uses up my scrap leather. This easy-to-make cord organizer involves no sewing!. It is simply a piece of leather with some snaps on it. This project could not be easier!
Supplies Needed
- leather – not too thin. You want it about 2.5mm thick. My local fabric store has a bin of scrap leather pieces. This is where I like to get mine but craft stores and online retailers also carry leather – both fabric pieces or already pre-cut into 1 inch strips.
- rotary cutter and mat
- quilting ruler – these are clear making it easier to cut
- snap kit
- awl (optional)
- small hammer (optional)

How to Make a Leather Cord Organizer
Cut your leather into a one-inch strip. I personally find it easier to cut with the good side down – so I’m actually cutting the backside.
Depending on the size of the cord organizer you want to make, there are 3 options for lengths to cut:
- small: 3.5 inches long
- medium: 4.5 inches long
- large: 5.5 inches long
The length or size is determined by the cord or cable you want to organize. Power cords are thicker and longer and would require at least the medium or large size, while my phone’s lightning cable charging cord only needs the small size.
Follow the instructions of your snap kit to attach the snaps on the ends. My kit contains a hole cutter, but I find it difficult to use and so I often use an awl instead to punch the hole.
That’s it! Can you believe how easy that was? This is such a quick and easy project.
I love the look of the leather. It looks so sleek.
