Even though things are getting better, we are still wearing face masks here on the west coast.
Wearing a face mask all day while working requires either changing it at least once throughout the day as well as the use of a mask refresher spray.
The Purpose of a Face Mask Refresher Spray
I wanted to make a face mask refresher spray for a couple of reasons.
- to help sanitize the mask; note that this is only temporary, you should wash your mask daily – or be like me and sew a bunch so you don’t have to wash all the time. Sometimes I put on a new mask after lunch.
- to refresh the smell of your mask after wearing for a couple of hours or after eating
Supplies Needed
This concoction couldn’t be any easier. It only takes a few items.
- small spray bottle
- witch hazel
- distilled water
- essential oils
How to Make the Mask Refresher Spray
Fill your spray bottle with equal parts witch hazel and distilled water. A little funnel makes this easier.
Add in your essential oils. I like the essential oils from doTerra. Here are some I like to use:
- tea tree – this is anti-bacterial
- lavender – calming
- Easy Air – this is a blend of Laurus Nobilis, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Tea Tree, Lemon, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Ravensara. This is great for calming, as well as respiratory help.
Air X is another good blend for breathing. You may also consider eucalyptus.
Cover your spray bottle and give a gentle shake. Now your spray is ready to use.
How to Use the Spray
Spray on the inside of your mask periodically throughout the day.
Be sure to let it air dry before wearing the mask.
Remember that this is not a replacement for washing your mask. This just helps refresh it to get you through the day.
