Free Sewing Patterns for Babies and Children

Sharing is caring!

I love sewing for babies and children. My kids are too old now, but I always love the opportunity when I know someone is expecting. Here are some free sewing patterns for babies and children.

I know that budget and money are always an issue for me as well as others. So if I can get the pattern for free, it’s worth it. This is especially true since I am not using them for my own children but as gifts.

Fabric Choices

When it comes to sewing for babies and children, I like to pick fabrics that are not only soft but machine washable! Any mom will tell you that it needs to be machine washable for sure. I would never gift a new mom with clothing that needed to be hand washed or dry cleaned.

  • BAMBOO
  • COTTON LYCRA
  • WAFFLE KNIT

I’ve made the following baby gifts. They are always so much fun to sew as they are just so darn cute. These were all made from free sewing patterns for babies and children.

While this is not a complete list, there are many things here to get you started. I haven’t made everything on this list. I have my favourites (the Lowland Hoodie and several of the baby items from Patterns for Pirates), but you never know!

Free Baby Sewing Ideas

There are some great free patterns out there. You just need to know where to find them. These are all great sewing ideas if you are expecting a new baby or for your next baby shower! The great thing about these patterns is that many of them are sized for children as well. So you can just keep sewing!
