How to Make a Layered Burlap Banner
Day 9 of my Cricut Christmas Crafting is another banner. So far I’ve made a felt banner, a banner with HTV, a banner with fabric. Today we are going to combine some of those together to make a layered burlap banner.
Layered Burlap Banner with Fabric and Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)
Why not add both fabric and HTV to your banner? I love adding layers – it gives the banner more dimension.
I love the layers in this one. Can you tell I really like buffalo plaid?
- I applied the HTV to the fabric first
- Then I applied the heat and bond to the fabric
- Then I pressed the fabric with the HTV already on it to the burlap
I added little jingle bells in between each letter. This was a jingle bell garland that I found at the dollar store. I simply cut it apart and tied them in between each letter. If I change my mind later, I can untie them and remove them.
Hanging Your Layered Burlap Banner
This is a repeat of the directions on how to hang your layered burlap banner – this way you won’t have to click back to another post.
Hang your burlap banner with fabric just as you would any other banner. It can be hung using either twine or ribbon. I found some jute twine in the dollar store that works well. I also There are a couple of ways to hang your banner. Here are a few ideas:
- Glue a string or ribbon to the back.
- Sew a tunnel for the ribbon
For my burlap banners, I simply folded over the top and glued it down with the jute twine inside. I used my glue gun to do this.
If you are going to add decorative items that need to be fed through – be sure to do that as you glue the banner pieces in as they don’t move or slide.
Here you will see that I added jingle bells in between each banner letter. Once they’re in there, they’re there for good.
See all the great possibilities that can be done with a burlap banner with fabric? Not only are these great for the holidays, but other occasions as well.
