How to Personalize a Christmas Tree Skirt
Here we are on the last day of my 12 Days of Cricut Christmas crafting! It’s been quite a journey with my new Cricut Maker. I’ve been making all sorts of Christmas crafts. For the last day, I’m going to personalize a Christmas tree skirt.
Christmas Tree skirts come in a variety of styles and looks. But they all have one common purpose – to cover up that Christmas tree stand! Tree skirts are available from a number of retailers. The variety of endless.
I got some fabric Christmas Tree skirts and thought it would be a good opportunity to personalize a Christmas Tree skirt using my Cricut Maker. If you’ve been following my 12 Days of Cricut Christmas crafting, you’ll probably notice that I have a love for buffalo plaid – so it’ll be no surprise to you that I got some buffalo plaid tree skirts.
Tips to Personalize a Christmas Tree Skirt
If your Christmas Tree Skirt is made out of fabric, including burlap, heat transfer vinyl (HTV) can be used. Check out my post All About Heat Transfer Vinyl to get tips and tricks on working with HTV.
Keep in mind that certain patterns, specifically buffalo plaid, have been known to have colours bleed through when using regular HTV, which is quite thin. In order to remedy this, choose a thicker vinyl like glitter or flock. Check out my blog post on Siser StripFlock Vinyl here.
Personalization Ideas
Monograms or initials are a popular way to personalize a Christmas Tree Skirt. Also nice are seasonal quotes.
Here’s a skirt I made for some friends using a seasonal quote. I also wanted to include their names to make it more personal. For this project, I used Siser StripFlock vinyl – it has a nice fuzzy feel to it and I really like how the white stands out on the buffalo plaid.
Not only does this make a nice family keepsake for your home, but they also make great gifts.
