Happy Planner Dashboards | How to Make Your Own
I’ve been using my Happy Planner for a few months now. Here’s how to make Happy Planner Dashboards.
I use my Happy Planner for everything including to help me organize my blogging, as well as all of our family activities and appointments. I know some people have separate planners, but I like mine all contained in one planner.
Recently, I showed you how easy it is to make your own Happy Planner cover. Well, it’s just as easy to make your own Happy Planner Dashboards as well. It’s basically the same process, just a different shape. Read all about the supplies and then follow the process to make a Happy Planner cover here.
What are Happy Planner Dashboards Used For?
Dashboards are tabs that are used as bookmarks. They mark off certain sections, making it easy for you to flip to. They are similar to the monthly tabs in your Happy Planner, but to distinguish them separately, the tabs are at the top of the Happy Planner (not the sides where the monthly tabs are). In addition to the calendar, I have a section where I keep track of all my craft orders. I also have a couple of blogging sections – one for my monthly stats and another for brainstorming ideas for future blog posts. Each of these sections is marked with a Dashboard.
Because the dashboards are subject to more wear and tear, the Happy Planner ones are made of plastic. The dashboards can be decorated with stickers or used to keep your post-its. I emulated that by laminating them, much like how I laminated the cover. My one criticism is that the selection of Happy Planner Dashboards is limited. I have one set that is pink, teal and clear. By making my own, I can have them in any colour or design I want. They can even coordinate with my cover!
I used 12×12 cardstock to make my Happy Planner covers. Since they were cut to 7.5 x 9.5, I was left with a long, 4.5-inch wide strip. I decided to turn those into Happy Planner Dashboards. Now, these are narrower than the Happy Planner Dashboards – those ones measure 5.5 inches wide. You could use a new piece of cardstock to make that exact size – but I just wanted to use up my scraps.
The tab part of the dashboard is at the top and is an extension of the main part. What I mean by that is, the dashboard is 9.5 inches tall, but the tab sticks out beyond that – just by 3/8ths of an inch. Not a whole lot. But you can make it bigger if you want. The tabs measure 1.75 inches wide. You can make your tabs any size you want. I simply traced the Happy Planner Dashboards to match.
See how easy that was? I love that out of a 12×12 piece of scrapbook paper/cardstock, I can make both a cover and a dashboard.
