Hi! I’m West Coast Mom.
I live on the beautiful West Coast of Canada and am the proud mom to three boys and a Westie named Barry. When my boys were little, I’d smother them with hugs and kisses and they would giggle and laugh and exclaim – Too Much Love, Mommy! It remains, up to this day, a fond memory of their childhood.
In addition to being a full-time educator, I love to create and make cool stuff! I have an eclectic interest that includes crochet, knitting and sewing. In the spring of 2017, I acquired a Cricut Explore Air 2. Since then I have had a wonderful time exploring all of the possibilities with this machine. I even upgraded to the Cricut Maker.
As a busy mom, there is a lot of “hurry up and wait” – after school, at music lessons, the swimming pool, etc. During this time, you will typically see me with yarn in hand, working on something. Looking for inspiration for a new project? Check out my projects. Sometimes I come up with my own designs that I will share and other times, I’ll let you know what patterns out there work well and what, if any modifications I need to do in order to make it work.
See something neat you want to make? Many of my projects include easy-to-follow step-by-step directions. My many years as an educator have enabled me to be able to break the process down and help you with clear, succinct and easy-to-understand directions. I’ll also give you some tips that I’ve picked up along the way to make it even easier.
This blog journals my process and journey and serves as a record and portfolio of my work. This is also a legacy to my mother who I miss dearly and was the one who taught me to knit, crochet and sew. So please join me on this adventure!
My Crafting Tools
A crafter is only as good as their tools.
I use a Cricut Maker, knit with Karbon needles and crochet with Clover hooks. I sew on Janome and Babylock machines.
I have a whole page with all of the tools and things I love to use. It’s basically all of my Favourite Things!
