What are S’Mores?
S’mores are a great treat consisting of a toasted marshmallow and chocolate, sandwiched in between two graham crackers.
They are aptly named because they are so good, you always end up asking for “some more”. So “s’more” is a contraction of “some more”.
Traditionally, marshmallows are toasted over an open fire, making this a great activity for those who camp, have a cabin or even a fire pit or fire bowl in their backyard.
However, you can also make s’mores in the oven. Lay out all of your graham crackers on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle mini marshmallows over the graham crackers and broil in the oven. Keep an eye on it – take it out of the oven as soon as the marshmallows get soft and begin to brown. Once it’s out of the oven, immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over it (they’ll melt quickly) and top with another layer of graham crackers. Simply pull apart and serve.
This DIY s’mores kit is easy to put together, makes a nice gift for many occasions and is great for all ages.
Supplies Needed to Make Your Own S’Mores Kit
This is an easy kit to put together as it does not need many ingredients.
- marshmallows – regular size is great for toasting over an open fire while mini ones are easier when baking in the oven
- chocolate – you can get plain bars of chocolate or chocolate chips if baking in an oven
- graham crackers
- container to hold everything – there are lots of cute baskets and buckets that can be found in a variety of places, including the dollar store

Sometimes, instead of the chocolate and graham crackers, you can Celebration cookies – which have chocolate on one side of the biscuit. It’s two in one! I know that these cookies are readily available in Canada. I would imagine that there may be something similar where you live.
An Added Touch
A nice added touch to your s’mores kit would be the addition of some vinyl to your container.
I found this cute, free SVG from Happy Go Lucky. I cut it out in black adhesive vinyl and applied it to the galvanized bucket.
Look at how this s’mores kit turned out. It’s so cute and makes the nicest little gift.
