My life is reasonably organized – it’s my kids’ lives that I need help keeping track of! Since getting my Happy Planner, I decided to design a bunch of my own planner stickers to help me stay organized. I found some online, but they weren’t quite what I was looking for and I’ll be sure to tell you why.
What Makes a Good Planner Sticker?
I’m very particular about what I need for doctor appointment stickers and I wasn’t able to find it, so I designed my own. To me, there is a set of criteria that makes a planner sticker helpful. There is a myriad of doctor appointments when you have kids – family doctor, dentist, orthodontist, eye doctor and the occasional specialist. That said, I didn’t want a separate sticker for each doctor. I didn’t need specific “Eye Doctor Appointment” stickers because we only go every other year. Yet, I am at the orthodontist every month with at least 1 child. So I needed generic doctor appointment stickers – something that would work for any type of doctor.
There are some cute doctor appointment stickers online, but I needed one that allowed me to write in details – things like which doctor, the time and which child. So I needed a sticker that gave me boxes to fill in the specific information. Some doctor appointment stickers were cute little stethoscopes, but I needed something a bit more than that. Also, the stethoscope refers to a specific type of doctor and I needed something more general.
I also found entire sheets of doctor appointment stickers but I wanted more flexibility than that. I wanted to be able to size them that I wanted and print out as many as I wanted. So when designing these planner stickers, I opted to do a small set, allowing the user to print out as many times as they wanted. Then I could combine it with other stickers. I don’t necessarily have to do an entire sheet of doctor appointment planner stickers. I also wanted the flexibility to resize for a wall calendar, as opposed to my planner.
So to sum up, my criteria for perfect doctor appointment stickers are the following:
- space for me to specify which child
- space for me to specify which doctor
- space for the time of the appointment.
How to Print the Doctor Appointment Planner Stickers
Using Microsoft Word
- Save the image and simply paste the image into a Word document. Size it to whatever size you want. Paste it in as many times as you want or need.
- Print on full sheet sticker sheets (something like Avery 6503; there are other options available in stationery stores and online).
- Use a paper cutter to cut your stickers. Note that they won’t be “perfect” all the way around. You could use scissors if you want it exact.
Using a Cutting Machine like the Cricut or Silhouette
- Upload the image into your cutting machine’s software and treat it as a print and cut image. Size it to whatever size you want.
- I have a Cricut Explore Air 2 and duplicated it as many times as I needed in Design Space.
- Print out on full sheet sticker paper (like above) and let your machine do the cutting.
