Wizarding Trio | Free Harry Potter Crochet Amigurumi Pattern
Here is the last day of my 12 Days of Christmas projects. Here’s how to make a wizarding trio.
Earlier in the fall, I got an order from a friend to make a Wizarding Trio – Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger. I looked up various patterns but didn’t quite find the look I was wanting, so I came up with my own pattern.
As usual, I didn’t want to reinvent the wheel, so I went with a few base patterns that I knew were good and modified from there. For the basic people pattern, I went with Repeat Crafter Me’s Boy and Girl Amigurumi Dolls. You can find the pattern here. I’ve used this pattern before for a Christmas nativity scene. They have a distinct look as they don’t have legs, but that was the look I was going for.
As for accessories, I came up with a Gryffindor scarf, as well as a cloak. The cloak is a modified version of Obi Wan Kenobe’s cloak – a pattern by Lucy Ravenscar. This is a paid pattern and for that reason, I will not be posting that pattern. I will, however, post the scarf pattern.

Yarn for the Wizarding Trio
The yarns I used in this project are as follows:
- Vanna’s Choice – Fisherman (skin colour)
- Impeccable – Black
- Impeccable – Burgundy
- Impeccable – Sunny Day (yellow)
- Vannas’ Choice – Silver Grey
- Impeccable – Chocolate (brown)
- Impeccable Brights – Orange
I used a 2.5mm hook and I also used 7.5mm safety eyes and embroidery thread. You will also need fibre-fill stuffing. As these are crocheted in the round, a stitch marker to mark the start of each round is helpful.

To make hair, use Repeat Crafter Me’s method: cut strands of yarn about 4-6 inches long. The males have shorter hair and so only need about 4 inches. The female has longer hair, so 6 inches should do. Hook yarn with your crochet hook in the middle of the strands (one at a time). Pull through. Now grab the ends of the yarn (you should have 6 strands because your yarn is now halved) and pull through the loop. Pull tight. Style & trim yarn after you have covered the top of the head.

Scarf (use for all 3)
Using Sunny Day (yellow) yarn, make a FSC of 3sc, ch 1 and turn
R2 – 3 sc, change to burgundy yarn, ch 1, turn
R3 – 3 sc, ch 1, turn
R4 – 3 sc, change to yellow yarn, ch 1, turn
R5-6 – continue on in yellow
R7-8 – burgundy
Continue on, alternating colours until it is 50 rows long.
Carry the yarn along the edge – it’s not that noticeable when you attach it.
Wrap the scarf around the wizards and tack it down on the front and the back so that it stays put.
So I’m quite pleased with how the wizarding trio turned out. The recipient was also quite pleased. Even without the cloaks, they look cute. What do you think?
